Flagship food manufacturing company in Sri Lanka with the ambience of family based values, Uswatte Confectionery Works (Pvt ) Ltd now into the third generation, birthed way back over six decades ago through Grandma Mabel’s dream dessert for her husband’s birthday, then inspiring her two sons Mr. P J C (Christie) Perera and Mr. F P Anton Perera to start Uswatte Confectionery Company in 1956, delighting young and old to clamour all over the country for Grandma Mabel’s “GLUCORASA”, generation after generation to date, savouring the taste that is characteristically Uswatte’s. The open economy in the 1980s opened up new horizons and the products range was expanded.

The company’s strategic direction has with God’s blessings been spearheaded by Mr. S Quintus Perera since 2009, across smooth transitions after the demise of his father Mr. P J C (Christie) Perera at the age of 72 years.

Mr. S Quintus Perera has the distinction of being the most experienced Confectionery manufacturer in Sri Lanka holding the Degree in Confectionery from Wisconsin University in the USA. After taking over control he changed the business model of the Company with stringent management controls and making the right tough and difficult decisions. Featuring in the portfolio of this company of which he is the Chairman and Managing Director, annual revenue is in excess of Rs.3 billion and the workforce of over 550 employees are disciplined to cohere as a team under the now third family generation alongside him in the second generation of this family based food manufacturing company.

His children Mrs. Suhanya Perera Ockersz, Mr. Shanura Perera and Mr. Shankar Perera too associated in directing management of Uswatte Confectionery Works (Pvt) Ltd continue to retain an over-arching professional flavor, furthering confectionery production reputation that reflects the personality of the pioneers of this Company.

Realising a longstanding dream of the company’s Founder Chairman the late Mr. P.J.C Perera (Christy) to manufacture and supply premium quality biscuits to the Sri Lankan consumer, Uswatte has been able to extend its branches and give birth to ‘Uswatte Golden Biscuits (Pvt) Ltd’, a company on a journey headed towards becoming a truly professional biscuit manufacturer with a longing for excellence, has now entered the biscuits market under the dynamic leadership of present Chairman/Managing Director S. Quintus Perera after years of meticulous planning and preparation.
