We went mihintale on a weekday around 4.00 p.m. There was not much crowd. From the main road to the rock there was nearly 1km.
Stone stairs were cut along the road, so it is easy to reach there. On the way, there was a place to keep slippers and bags and there was a person for the security.
Climbing the rock was a somewhat tough journey. There were some narrow spaces where only one can move at a time. But with the help of the supportive fence, people can climb safety.
In 5 minutes we were able to reach the top. There was good view and a heavy wind to the top of the rock.
This is a nice place to visit in Sri Lanka
Absolutely amazing. 1000 rupees each. We went about 5 but people were still arriving when we left to catch a bit more of the sunset. Had to take your shoes off for the last bit but not too bad on your feet.
Mihintale is only 12 kM away from the famous Anuradhapura city. The sacred forest mountain Missaka Pabbatha where King Devanampiya Tissa met Arhat Mihindu Thera and his companions is situated in Mihintale. The area of Mihintale surrounds with a jungle and there are rocks scattered around the mountainous area. There is a temple in this place…🤍
