History of THAI SUMEDA / LANKA SUMEDA.

In 1989  I went to Thailand to buy garments for my local apparel outlet in Rathnapura at Sabaragamuwa province. While in my business tour I decided to visit one of the Bangkok Temples and ended up meeting a Sri Lankan Buddhist Monk. I was advised by the monk to develop a high quality pack of incense stick for Sri Lankan Market. Having no knowledge of Manufacturing such a product I was first hesitant to start the business, but was convinced by monk and with a strong strong entrepreneurial mindset I moved to produce incense sticks after receiving the basic training in the manufacturing process. From the beginning my intension to introduce a high quality product to the market and differentiate from the other Manufacturers. Despite of the comparatively high price point of my incense sticks, the brand has become increasingly popular among users and has gradually achieved the top position in the market less than three years .

THAI SUMEDA RECOGNIZED at national industry excellence awards at Waters edge Hotel in the presence of the President of Sri Lanka, It organized by Industrial ministry of Sri Lanka 2022.

Thai Sumeda enterprises is honored again and again and this year with the prestige silver award at the national industry Excellence awards 2023 for their outstanding performance competing with thousand of industries in the country. The award ceremony was held at the Nelum Pokuna theater, graced by president of Sri Lanka.
